Parrotfish, Opal Reef, Great Barrier Reef

An amazing rainbow of colors. We were told parrotfish are key to a healthy reef. The graze on coral providing spots for new coral to take hold. Our Wavelength marine biologist explained baby coral are turned to the wavelength of sound from parrotfish crunching coral and know to make their way to these spots to colonize new reefs.

Different colors light up at different angles!

There were countless types and looking on the web parrotfish are quite difficult to identify.

This was one of the more unusually colored ones we saw.
