Buffalo are the easiest of the big 5 to see. They are in the big 5 since they are dangerous and will charge if approached which is how the big 5 were chosen back when hunting was allowed. It has nothing to do with how difficult an animal is to see or how beautiful they are.

They are huge with sharp horns and are very challenging for even a pride of lions to bring down.

Our guide TJ told us the buffalo avoid the wildebeest since they are always wanting to run and annoy the buffalo. The buffalo are interested in staying near water and wandering slowly. During the migration, when we visited, lions avoid hunting buffalo since they are far more challenging to bring down than wildebeest. It is not uncommon for lions to get injured or killed trying to attack a buffalo.
