Cougar Drink (9/30/2014)
Cougar visits are rare and until September 2014 we never got a full sequence of a cougar coming in for a drink. This majestic male cooperated by coming to the perfect spot for his drink. He is the largest and strongest cougar to visit either Los Pueblos or Camino Redondo!
This shot gives a great look at how long cougars are.
He seems quite peaceful and contented while taking a drink. You can tell this is likely a male by looking at his strong shoulder muscles.
Finally the perfect shot of a cougar looking right at the camera! It took 3 years of 4 separate critter cams monitoring different locations to get this sequence. The flash in the camera doesn't seem to bother him or the othre animals that visit. Maybe it is just like lightning going off.
In this pose you can see his enormous paws and claws. You can also see his strong leg muscles that give cougars a 20 foot vertical jump! No more shots were taken and when I checked the camera trap I had no idea this amazing fellow had visited.
