The Tawny Frogmouth is also very well camoflaged but slightly easier to see than the Papaun Frogmouth. Again Del Richards knew where to find a roosting pair. Gowri captured this excellent picture of the pair right in the middle of a trailer park. Most people at the park had no idea they were there.
Their feathers closely resemble the bark in color and texture.
