Fruithunter, Mt Kinabalu National Park, Borneo

We were lucky to see this rare, difficult to see fruithunter in the same fruiting tree where we saw Whitehead's Broadbill. Our guide was opportunistic and add this stop to our itineraryand the fruithunter treated us with a great look within 5 mintues of appearing. Soon he was gone and others who really wanted to see him missed out. Handsome and unmistakable thrush-like bird. Male is gray overall.

Endemic to Borneo’s highlands, where it wanders nomadically through submontane and montane forests in search of fruiting trees.

Female is suffused with rusty cinnamon-brown. .
