Burrowing Owls are special in that they are active during the day and nest on the ground. They even exist in our home state of New Mexico but I've never seen them there. This pair had a well hidden nest near the lodge at Pousada Aguape. One would never find it if it wasn't for the guides at the lodge. If you look closely one of the chicks is to the left of the leftmost adult.
