Unmistakable black partridge with a bright red head (hence the alternative name, “Bloodhead”). Inhabits Bornean montane forest (roughly 1000–1700 m).

The male is gorgeous.

Adiya got this nice shot of a standoff between the male and a squirrel that is endemic to Borneo.

The chicks are beginning to get their colors.
