A much sought after bird that is shy and difficult to see. The Pantanal is a very good place to see them. We saw this one feeding but he would never spread his wings which is where the full beauty of this bird is seen.
We saw another sunbittern as we drove and saw it hop and fly from location to location. No picture was possible but we saw with our eyes the amazing wings of this bird. Here is a picture from the web of the sunbittern in its full glory.
