We should have seen Boat-bill herons at Carrara near an oxbox lake. This area was supposed to be one of the best birding areas in Costa Rica. Unfortunately rain turned the trails into a muddy mess. In addition, we also got our tripod stolen here. All in all, the worst day of birding for us. It was nice to see this fellow even if it was in captivity.
