Our home, Los Alamos, New Mexico, lies on top the mesa tops of the Pajarito Plateau. The trip to Los Alamos involves driving through the Rio Grande valley and past Black Mesa (on the right). Black Mesa is a volcanic formation that is a sacred place for the Native Americans in the area. In the fall, the cottonwoods of the Rio Grande valley turn bright yellow making for a beautiful drive to Los Alamos.
