The amazing glow of Kilauea's Crater made it worth it to pack the tripod for the trip to the big island! Seeing an active shield volcano up close is an unforgettable sight. The glow can only be seen at dawn, dusk and night and photos require long exposures. Often the area is socked in with vog (like fog but due to the volcanic gases) and no glow can be seen. Luckily we had 4 nights to see the glow and 3 of the nights were fantastic.
