Black rhinos are amongst the most difficult animals to see. We got quite lucky to see this fellow in Ngrongoro crater on our first day of safari in 2000. They are often in tall grass or shrub making them even more of a challenge to locate. Despite having 7 days in the Masai Mara in 2017 we never saw this elusive member of the Big 5 and there are only about 10 in the entire Mara Triangle.
