Big Boy Male Eating Mule Deer Stag, Los Alamos, NM (Jan 19-28, 2023)

Visited Los Pueblos in Snowstorm (Jan 18) Day 1, Approaching Kill Site on Villa (Jan 19) Feeding on the ribs Big Boy is around 140 lbs and the stag is about 300 lbs Stag was killed on the street and dragged to the canyon This large male visits Los Pueblos and Redondo He killed a racccon at Los Pueblos on camera on 10/31/22 Moving kill while feeding exposed the stag's head Flash for cougar foreground with long exposure to image the stars Tim Laman's idea to always take a long expsoure of scene at night for stars Leaves for several hours and returns at dawn Still feeding at sunrise Decides to move the kill a bit further down canyon at sunrise Big Boy licking his chops after his meal Kill buried when I arrived in the morning to hide it and reduce smell Day 3, Feeding near the neck (Jan 21) Large 10 point stag Enormous paw Twigs to cover kill Only shot of a 1000 with bloody snout Tucked away nicely in canyon Sunrise Still no other animals have visited the kill Pueblo Canyon starts lighting up Still more to eat at the end of day 3 Time to get to his day bed at 8 am Day 5, Fresh Snow visit at 4 pm! (Jan 23) Day 9, Telephoto shot from Adam's deck! (Jan 27, 5:00 pm) Cougar waiting to feed at dusk (5 pm) Relaxing until it gets darker He started feeding once dark enough Day 10, Back again and this time at the kill (Jan 28, 4:45 pm) Still quite a bit of the deer left after 10 days Can get some nice closeup shots Aditya got this shot that looks like our Bandhavgarh tiger photo! He finally left the kill and arrived at Redondo (Jan 29, 5 am)! Nice long drink at pond to wash down the deer He walks through the narrow path between our deck and Pueblo Canyon DSLR Video of Feeding!
