Huge bull moose munching on willows at sunset, Brainard Lake, CO (8/22/15)
He's using his tongue to get at the fresh chutes
His antlers are huge even compared to his large 1200 lb body
A lot of his body is still hidden by the willows
After the sun set, I finally got to see his bell hanging under his chin
The next morning at sunrise, the bull was bedded down chewing the cud (8/23/15)
It was cold in the morning even in August and there is dew all over the grass
The dew evaporated but the bull took his time to get up
Finally he got up
He was so majestic!
He turned right at us and we were worried he may come our way
Once standing without willows to block him, you could see how huge he was!
His antlers were about 5 feet across!
Luckily he turned away, and headed for the willows
Here is a panorama with the beautiful morning light
Once the sun got higher, I was able to capture Brainard Lake, Mountain Audubon with a big bull in the foreground and in the willows!
The moose disappeared during the day, then returned from the forest at sunset
