California Nebula (NGC 1499)

A gorgeous dim emission nebula shaped very much like California. This is a HOO shot with the ZWO 1600 ASI Pro Mono cooled with our 300 mm Sigma lens processed with Pixinsight.

This is a HSO Hubble Palette shot with the ZWO 1600 ASI Pro Mono cooled processed with Pixinsight. Most nebula are strongest in hydrogen and then oxygen comes in 2nd brightest. However, California is interestingly stongest in hydrogen and sulphur with very low oxygen emission leading to this unusual yellow hubble palette image.
