Rosette Nebula (NGC 2244)

When starting this hobby I had no idea we could get pictures like this. The Rosette Nebula is a great target with amazing red gases amongst bright blue stars. Our 8 inch telescope took the photo above. At a 800 mm focal length one is actually too zoomed into to capture the entire nebula.

This picture simply uses our Sigma 150-600 mm lens and at FL 400 mm one can capture the entire nebula. Finding the correct adaptors to allow my camera and zoom lens to use the tracking mount opened up all sorts of new possibilities to frame nebula many of which are very large. Using a combination of the telescope and zoom lens we can cover 150-800 mm. Some day getting a telescope with even longer focal lengths would be great to get in closer on galaxies and planetary nebula.
